1973
The nominees were:
- Ellen Burstyn in The Exorcist
- Glenda Jackson in A Touch of Class
- Marsha Mason in Cinderella Liberty
- Barbra Streisand in The Way We Were
- Joanne Woodward in Summer Wishes, Winter Dreams
OK, this seems to be a very controversial year because of its winner and the reaction of one of the nominees. So you must know how excited I am to do this year first in 2011. So let's just start (basically, it's 2010, but it will end in 2011).
I am using this new type of the nominees' picture as the old ones were too big I think, and changes fit a new year. :-)
What do you think? What's your ranking and who are you rooting for? What are your predictions for my ranking? The contest is on.
I really have no idea who will be your pick since this year is usually very divided...could be anyone and that's why I am very excited that you do it!
ReplyDeleteBTW, how did you get Cinderella Libertiy (If I may ask)?
ReplyDeleteA friend of mine got it for me. :)
ReplyDeleteFor me it's Barbra with Glenda in second place. Two very underrated performances.Ellen and Marsha were great, but overrated and Woodward did nothing to me.
ReplyDeleteFemale performances in romantic dramas/comedies are so underrated.Don't get me wrong,i'm not thinking about Aniston,Kutcher etc.Last night i was watching Meryl Streep saying it's hardest thing for actors to make you feel they love each other, and i think i agree.Barbra and (to lesser extent)Glenda have done just that. And much more.
I'll predict:
ReplyDelete1.Jackson
2.Burstyn
3.Mason
4.Streisand
5.Woodward
Although I think Burstyn could very well win, since who wants to see her reaction if she loses.
Louis: Haha! I do want to see her reaction;-) it's hilarious, but I think it was Joanne who was very bitchy. That sarcastic grim on her face is more hateful. Ellen was simply disappointed but Joanne was acting as if Glenda's performance was inferior. I seriously dislike her, and has great chance of becoming last.
ReplyDeleteGo Barbra! Her performance is beautiful and, to a degree, iconic.
ReplyDeleteLet's hope Glenda can pull this off! My love for her is immense ;)
ReplyDeleteThis is such an open year, but I think Glenda will edge out the rest. This is a very interesting year though.
ReplyDeleteI've seen all, though not recently.
ReplyDeletethey're all good, but none completely mindblowing.
I do hope Glenda doesn't win.
do you guys lost your mind. the performance that glenda give is terrible. its just stiff as stone. and whats bother me is that tough british accent. the film should be snub because of there is nothing oscar worthy and glenda aghhhh she is just forgettable. i mean watch badlands and Scenes from a Marriage. you will snub her and joanne . keep barbara for fan love for film and ellen and marsha they were amazing. ellen should have won
