1944
So the nominees were:
- Ingrid Bergman in Gaslight
- Claudette Colbert in Since You Went Away
- Bette Davis in Mr. Skeffington
- Greer Garson in Mrs. Parkington
- Barbara Stanwyck in Double Indemnity
I can't wait to see all of the performances. It's going to be a tough battle between Bergman and Stanwyck and I haven't even seen the others who might just outdo both of them. Oh, so exciting! :)
What do you think? The predicting contest is on.
This will be interesting, since this is the first time this year has been discussed around here.
ReplyDeleteThis one is quite difficult to predict:
1.Bergman
2.Stanwyck
3.Davis
4.Garson
5.Colbert
The bottom three are particularly random.
Yes, Louis, I am the first one to cover it here. Actually, I wanted to be the first badly because I so love Stanwyck and Bergman plus I'm really interested in the others. :)
ReplyDeleteI have seen 3 of them so far and they range immmensely in the level of quality for me. I guess that your pick will be Stanwyck or Bergman.
ReplyDeleteOooh, fun year! This is one that has interested me for awhile because of the stature of all the nominees, but I haven't seen any quite yet. I'll join the prediction contest:
ReplyDelete1. Stanwyck
2. Bergman
3. Colbert
4. Davis
5. Garson
DerekB: Glad you joined the contest. In case you don't know the rule: If you're not satisified with your predictions, you can change until the fourth review. Good luck with the predictions! :)
ReplyDeleteThanks! I've been lurking for awhile (wow that makes me sound like a total creeper) so I thought I might as well jump in =)
ReplyDeleteI'll guess Ingrid will win, and I'm rooting for her. She was fantastic!
ReplyDeleteMy prediction:
1. Bergman
2. Stanwyck
3. Colbert
4. Garson
5. Davis
Great year, I've seen Bergman, Stanwyck and Davis and they were all brilliant, Bergman was probably the best and Stanwyck was very good, I honestly don't know why people hate Davis' performance, it's definitely one of my favorite performances by her and I also really enjoyed the film as well, I hope she's not last because she was terrific. I think Colbert will be last.
