1992
So the nominees were:
- Catherine Deneuve in Indochine
- Mary McDonnell in Passion Fish
- Michelle Pfeiffer in Love Field
- Susan Sarandon in Lorenzo's Oil
- Emma Thompson in Howards End
This one is said to be a weak year but to me all fields are interesting, so let's see how these great ladies will do.
What do you think? What's your ranking? What's your prediction for my ranking?
I've seen two of them but I actually just thought about watching the other three. I guess Emma Thompson will win but who knows...
ReplyDeleteMy guess:
1. Emma
2. Mary
3. Susan
4. Catherine
5. Michelle
I have seen three of them and all of them are pretty impressive, in varying degrees.
ReplyDeleteMy predictions are:
1 - Thompson
2 - McDonell
3 - Sarandon
4 - Pfieffer
5 - Denevue
This is going to be an exciting race!
Yes, very exciting. :)
ReplyDeleteOoooh go Michelle! A brilliant performance. And I hope you like Catherine, too.
ReplyDeletehi,i don't think 1992 is weak,i think the final 5 are fine, pity there is no room for mia farrow's best performance in husbands and wives,1992 had some funny girls too whoopi, goldie, geena and meryl.
ReplyDeletemrripley: I don't mind telling already that my personal pick for the year would be wonderful Whoopi in Sister Act. She's brilliant in one of my favorite movies ever. Moreover, I think she should have won not one but TWO Oscars in 1992. One for Sister Act (Lead) and one for The Player (supporting), she's astonishing there).
ReplyDeleteIt is a shame that comedy does not get recoginsed i sometimes don't recognise it myself unless the academy do,who would have been your 5 supp ladies.
ReplyDeletelead

My supporting ladies would be:
ReplyDelete1. Maggie Smith in Sister Act & Whoopi Goldberg in The Player (can't decide, really)
2. Mary Wickles in Sister Act
3. Helena Bonham Carter in Howards End
4. Marisa Tomei in My Cousin Vinny
Due to the usual description of this year this was is hard to predict.
ReplyDelete1. McDonnell
2. Thompson
3. Deneuve
4. Pfeiffer
5. Sarandon
Very random predictions.
I agree, this year looks interesting for sure. But I haven't seen any of them, so I'm not even going to take a stab at predictions.
ReplyDeleteAnd I have to disagree about Sister Act, I thought it was fun and charming but nothing really that special. Glad you like it, though.
easy. Emma
