1987
So the nominees were:
- Cher in Moonstruck
- Glenn Close in Fatal Attraction
- Holly Hunter in Broadcast News
- Sally Kirkland in Anna
- Meryl Streep in Ironweed
A truly WOW year, that I've wanted to do ever since I started these reviews. I'm eager to watch and rewatch these performances and movies that cover a wide range. Careerist women, aging women, tired women and one of them doesn't like being ignored. Oh, I'm über excited!
What do you think? Who's your pick? What's your prediction for my ranking? :)
I've seen all 5, though none recently. I might say Sally Kirkland... but all are 4-stars at least from what I can remember.
ReplyDeleteSo you're not so keen on Great Glenn, are you? People usually are. We'll see how much I'll like her. :) Which win would you give her?
ReplyDeleteI imagine this will not be close, but will be a strong year nonetheless.

Very interested to see if anyone can even come close to Glenn for you. I've seen Glenn, Holly, and Cher. Cher would take it for me, but Holly isn't far behind. Glenn was good too. =)

There's no doubt in my mind that Holly Hunter gave the best performace that year, but I suspect you'll pick ..Glenn Close?

have seen Cher and Glenn. i have no problem with Cher's Oscar glory but i couldn't ignore Glenn. i've seen F.A. so many times and Glenn is great on repeating views.
ReplyDeleteWell, I am an incredibly big fan of Great Glenn so she has a good chance. :) I reveal though that this is not my favorite performance of hers. :)
ReplyDeletewhich win I'd give Glenn? not sure... I haven't seen complete years of any of her other Oscar noms
ReplyDeleteThis is so obviously Glenn's to lose!
